Question of the Week

QUESTION:

Our PTA recently voted in a new secretary after the office was recently vacated by the individual who was elected last spring and received training at the WSPTA Convention. Does this new officer also need to receive training for us to be compliant to the WSPTA Bylaws?

ANSWER:

Your PTA fulfilled its requirement when the first individual who served as secretary received training. However, your new secretary will benefit from the leadership training that is offered by the Washington State PTA and we encourage you to take advantage of upcoming opportunities. Training offered at region conferences are available free of charge and help your leaders become more knowledgeable and skillful as officers, which benefits your entire PTA. For information about upcoming region conferences, go to “calendars” tab on your region webpage on the WSPTA website.
