Court Orders Legislature to Speed up Funding For McCleary Mandates

On behalf of Washington school children, the State Supreme Court took another important step this week to hold legislators accountable and for the State to show quicker progress in dramatically increasing K-12 public education funding to meet the mandates of the McCleary decision. On Thursday, the Court ordered the State to report by April 30 on a phase-in plan for adding billions of dollars to K-12 funding by 2018 to finally rectify years of unconstitutional underfunding. Read about this week's court order. We greatly appreciate the courage and commitment of the Court in this process.
