QUESTION:
I want our
PTA to get involved in supporting our local school bond campaign and there
was some confusion among our board as to whether or not PTA can be officially
involved in bond campaigns. Can you clarify the rules?
ANSWER:
Yes, a PTA can be involved in a bond
or levy campaign if they follow specific
guidelines. Please follow these links to information on the Washington
State PTA website for PTA procedures in endorsing a levy election:
In addition, as individual
community members our members may also want to get involved by donating their
time, talent or monetary resources to the local levy committee. The local
levy committee is made up of a group of citizens from the community running a
campaign to approve the levy. This is
a great civic exercise and a wonderful local advocacy effort on behalf of
children.
