PTA advocates from across the state gathered in Olympia for WSPTA’s annual Legislative Focus Day on February 4, 2014 to speak up for funding and policies that will help all children reach their potential.
Delegates received Focus Day briefings at the United Churches of Olympia in the morning from President Heather Gillette, Legislative Director Sherry Krainick and staff. At noon, 200 delegates rallied under the Capitol Rotunda; heard from WSPTA President Heather Gillette; Governor Jay Inslee; Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos; Rep. Pat Sullivan; Sen. Rodney Tom; Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe; Rep. Chad Magendanz; Rep. Ruth Kagi; Rep. Ross Hunter; Sen. Andy Hill and the Governor’s Senior Education Policy Advisor, Marcie Maxwell. First Lady Trudi Inslee was also in attendance.
In addition, meetings with Legislators were scheduled throughout the day to meet the needs of their schedules.
